My PhD research examines immigrant communities in twentieth century Belfast. In addition to archival sources, I am interested in using oral history to research the historical experience of ethnic minorities. I am particularly interested in how ‘other’ communities fitted into Northern Ireland, a society which was primarily defined by two oppositional identities
